- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2014 - Mr. Munish Jauhar, the Curator of the Chandigarh Hub of the Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum represented the local hub at the Annual Curators Meeting from August 21st-25th 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Global Shapers Hub is a network of communities founded by the World Economic Forum, developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, achievements and drive to make a contribution to their communities. The Chandigarh Hub of the Global Shapers is a group of young, dynamic individuals spearheading the movement of social equity, urban good governance and inclusion in the city.
GENEVA: Organised by the World Economic Forum, the ACM is a yearly gathering of Curators, or leaders, from the Global Shapers Community, operating through local hubs worldwide, to learn about best practices from each other.
Chandigarh-based entrepreneur Munish Jauhar, founder curator of Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub visited Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the annual curators meet from August 21 to August 25.
The ACM brought together 350 curators from hubs across the world and gave participants an opportunity to exchange experiences on relevant issues, share insights with the World Economic Forum members on regional issues and pressing world challenges; and create impact in the host city of Geneva by serving the local community.
"It was so inspiring to interact with the very group of people who share similar motivations and want to bring about a ripple of positive change through their actions in their respective cities. I was simply blown away with the collective talent and experiences shared by this intellectually and culturally rich group" says Munish. "I was grateful for the opportunity to meet all other hub leaders, share ideas, challenges, and bring back key lessons to help shape the youth in Chandigarh, mentor young leaders, and spark a positive change." Munish also met and shared Chandigarh's spirit with Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.
The Chandigarh Hub members are young people with hopes, ideas, with a will to make a difference in their communities. They represent all walks of life and share a spirit of entrepreneurship in the global public interest.
The Hub has been working on their project "Kalpa Vriksha" that has also been shortlisted in the "Coca Cola Shaping A Better Future" global competition. The hub is developing a constellation of Android mobile applications for smart phones that allow donors to connect with NGOs and individuals in need. Their two applications currently are blooddonor.me and InKind. They have also successfully conducted various initiatives in collaboration with the social entrepreneurship club of the Indian School of Business, Mohali and with the NGO Goonj, including a clothes donation drive. Members of the Hub are also representing Chandigarh at the World Economic Forum event in Delhi later this year.
The Chandigarh hub is now working on new ideas and projects including those on maintaining the inherent heritage of Chandigarh as an urban mecca, sustainable transport and sensitizing the Chandigarh citizens on societal challenges and solutions.
Munish concludes by saying, "This generation is increasingly self-empowered and thanks to information and technology has catalysed tremendous opportunities for interaction and collaboration. The Global Shapers Community is leveraging this empowered youth as change makers and future leaders of a growing and complex society. From my experience, those are the prime years where we can and do strive as foot soldiers, team members, leaders and catalysts to create positive change in society with unconditional passion, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit to shape the collective future of the society as we know it."
