  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2013 - Brooks Law Group held its first annual "Valentines for VETS Contest," involving the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders of Berkley Charter, Grace Lutheran, and Lake Shipp Elementary. All of the valentine cards created by the students will be given to our Honored U.S Veterans. The law firm collected their valentines and voted on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for MOST CREATIVE card. "There are so many cards and all VERY creative, so the decision is tough," said Steve Brooks, founding partner of Brooks Law Group.

First Place winner this year, Hailey Vaughn from Berkley Charter, received a $100.00 Gift Card to Target. Her theme was: "Here's a Life Saver Because You Save Lives!" Her card had a picture of her, a "Thank you for serving our Country," and a red Lifesaver hard candy attached. Hailey is in the 3rd grade and she was SO excited to find out that she won!!! Second place, Sean Manabat from Lake Shipp Elementary received a $50.00 Gift Card to Target.

Sean is in the 4th grade and said he was going to use his gift card to buy a DVD movie -"Hotel Transylvania." There were a lot of "Thank You's" in his card, along with many creative symbols and drawings associated with celebrating all of the efforts of the Veteran, appreciating the fact that he/she risked his/her life for our Country. Third place this year was Christian Oberle, a 4th grade student from Grace Lutheran. Christian's card included very creative and artistic drawings. Among those drawings were a camouflage army jeep, a lion, and a fighter plane. His prize was a $10.00 gift card to McDonalds.

Brooks Law Group appreciates all of the schools that participated and allowed their students to create valentines for our honored veterans. Brooks Law Group feels that all participants in the "Valentines for Vets Contest" are winners. ALL of the cards will be mailed to the Voluntary Service at the VA Hospital in Tampa and will be distributed among our local Veterans. The firm looks forward to having this contest again next year and invites all schools in Polk County to participate!
