About Those Willows:
Those Willows originally assembled as Sunny Side Up in 2007 by East Lansing musicians Melissa Tarter and Jack Wells. As the duo's music evolved to incorporate a spectrum of genres including soul, folk, rock, and jazz, the process lead them to add bassist Mike Tor, of Sterling Heights, in 2011. The band has performed all over Michigan, including festivals like Royal Oak's Arts, Beats and Eats, Detroit's Motown Winter Blast and Lansing's Festival of the Sun. Their music has been aired on multiple television shows from the UK's Skins to reality TV on Animal Planet, MTV, Bravo, Planet Green, and VH-1. We've also received commercial placements in the United States and Europe.
Our album, Rivertown, was inspired by all things Michigan; the nature, the people, the feeling. The making of our music video was a true labor of love. Being creative crafters and nature lovers, the props used in the video were all handmade by the band and friends from recycled materials. Our garbage bin finds, Craig's List freebies, and thrift store sprees furnished us with amazing resources to create a true work of art! We were fortunate to have some very talented Michigan State University students direct and film the production and it turned out far beyond expectations.
