Living Advantage, Inc. & Verizon Announce Partnership for Educational Opportunities for Foster Youth
Verizon Thinkfinity.org's free, online based educational resource & Living Advantage provides unique collaboration to underserved foster care youth with an educational "home-base" to continue learning despite personal transitions.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) June 11, 2011 - To address these poor educational outcomes for foster youth children, Living Advantage plans to assist more than 300 hundred Los Angeles area foster youth with enhanced access to information that promotes education, independence and self-sufficiency, thanks to a $9,000 Verizon grant.
The cornerstone of this effort is the Virtual Assistant Living and Educational (VALE) program, which is a secure e-data collection and storage web application that maintains vital life documents, including birth certificates and social security cards, for foster youth as they move through the foster system.
The grant brings to $18,000 the funding that Living Advantage has received from Verizon since 2010 to assist foster youth."Facts prove that, when foster youth are removed from an abusive environment their immediate physical safety improves, however it can also lead to lack of education attention.
