The innovative website, created as a simple way for people to meet with others at events in their local area, makes it easy for groups of people to get together with others at events all over the Sunshine Coast every week.
"With livelyfish you don't have to go out alone," said livelyfish.com founder Neil Murray. "People are able to go out as part of the livelyfish crowd, confident there will be someone there that they know. It's much more than just a What's On website that lists events in a local area, we deliberately focus on events where it's easy to meet with others."
"We also try to make sure there is a host at each event. These wonderful people volunteer to help make it as easy as possible for others, especially newcomers, at livelyfish events."
Going out in a group also brings the opportunity to meet new people. "It's dead easy because people just introduce any new people to the others in the livelyfish crowd," said Murray. "Women in particular say they are more able to go out to places alone because they know that someone they know from livelyfish will be there."
Murray said livelyfish operates mainly by people telling them about events they are going to or would like to go to in their local area. Through this they are able to tap into a wealth of local knowledge and cover a wide range of events in a broad area.
"As a result livelyfish has a reputation for listing many of the best events each and every week", said Murray, "We provide a range of events covering a wide range of people's interests - dancing for dancers, walks for walkers and parties for party animals."
The innovative website also offers an opportunity for people that are new to an area to meet with other people. Sue a livelyfish regular for example, says that she arrived at the Sunshine Coast for three days knowing one person, but three months later and through livelyfish has met some fantastic friends.
Livelyfish is completely free and is supported mostly by volunteers, there is no official membership or any fees applicable or anything like that - it's all really simple.
