- (1888PressRelease) February 06, 2014 - Armed Forces Entertainment presents Linda Vu's Women's Self Defense Clinics to empower the women serving overseas. The Linda Vu Fitness Academy's Self Defense Team will travel overseas to empower the women serving in the US Armed Forces.
Linda Vu is a Certified Fitness Trainer, Fitness Consultant and Fitness Model and she is currently on tour in Europe for Armed Forces Entertainment conducting a women's self defense seminar for the US Military. Each seminar runs a minimum of one hour with some lasting two or more.
Sexual harassment is at an all time high and bringing Linda Vu's Women's Self Defense Clinic is just one of the many ways the Department of Defense is doing to empower the women serving in the Armed Forces. Vu's seminar is a great addition to the SAPR training the military provides.
The Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) serves as the single point of authority for program accountability and oversight, in order to enable military readiness and reduce with a goal to eliminate sexual assault from the military.
General Mark A. Welsh III, Air Force Chief Of Staff has stated that, "Sexual assault has no place in our Air Force. We live in a culture of respect. We cherish our core values of integrity, service, and excellence. But in order to ensure all Airmen experience and benefit from those values, we must eliminate sexual assault in our ranks."
Vu's team is committed to training the women in the military to be able to protect themselves from all types of sexual assault with practical techniques that can also be applied in the battlefield.
Her consists of experts in the fitness, self defense and motivational industries combining a variety of techniques from the different styles of self-defense that are reality based. Linda's team travels the world coming to your gym, school or venue to set up an interactive workshop educating your audience their modern day techniques that will inspire, motivate and empower you.
Linda commented on the variables of different styles, "No matter what martial arts style that you're drawn to, I truly believe they are all good. With that being said, my seminars are NOT focused on one particular style. I have a team of instructors with extensive background in a variety of martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Filipino Eskrima, Tae Kwon Do, Close Quarters Combat, Tai Chi, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, Military & Police Defensive Tactics and more."
Ms. Vu added, "My seminars are reality-based self-defense with a team of instructors from variety of martial arts background. I've put a powerful team together giving the women the best and practical self-defense techniques and not just one particular style that wouldn't help them in the streets. I'm a very petite woman. If the techniques works for me, I know it will work for any woman."
Linda and her team will conduct seminars at bases located in England, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and the have already requested more seminars later in the year.
Vu registers 5 feet, 86 pounds and exclaimed. "I often hear that size doesn't matter in martial arts. Quite frankly, I think size does matter but don't let that determine the outcome. If size didn't matter, there would be no need for light or heavy weight categories. As long as I could remember, I've always had to fight harder to be great because there are people out there that can be very dismissive because I'm a petite woman. Some men treat me like I don't belong in their boys' club but that only motivates me to become extraordinary. Overcoming obstacles help to build character and will only make one stronger. When I walk into any martial arts studio, I'm judged because of my look and size. Most people don't expect me to last more than a month. I know that only in time that I would prove them wrong. When they realized how serious, focused and how much I've excelled is when I know I've earned my place to be there and gain their respect."
The Women's Self Defense Seminar will travel throughout Europe visiting the military installations during the month of February and the feedback is better than anyone could have hoped for. Bases are already requesting a return by Vu and her team.
Linda added, "My goal is to empower women to never be a victim."
