Messe Frankfurt and ELCOMA will join forces again to organise Light India 2014, to be held from 18 - 21 September in Halls 7 - 11 of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
- (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2013 - Messe Frankfurt and the apex body of India's lighting industry, Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association (ELCOMA), will join forces again to organise Light India 2014, to be held from 18 - 21 September in Halls 7 - 11 of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Light India 2014 will offer a professional platform for the best networking opportunities and compelling fringe programmes to facilitate the sharing of ideas and experiences in the industry.
Part of Messe Frankfurt's international portfolio and one of nine trade fairs under the globally renowned Light + Building brand, Light India 2014 will showcase innovative concepts in green, energy efficient and future lighting technologies. Supported by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Council of Architecture, Global Lighting Association, Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association (JLMA), China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), Taiwanese Lighting Fixtures Export Association (TLFEA) and National Electric Manufactures Association (NEMA), Light India 2014 will provide exclusive networking opportunities with policy makers and bulk buyers from government departments, public institutions and private organisations.
"The independence and emergence of confidence in private sector industries has driven India's economy into an enterprising future. Modernisation of airports, impressive increase in power generation capacity and distribution, massive road building and urban development has boosted growth of the lighting industry to double digits over the last five years. And the outlook for India's lighting sector in 2014 and 2015 is similar," stated Mr H S Mamak, Adviser to ELCOMA.
Currently estimated at INR 96 billion (USD 1.64 billion), the Indian lighting industry has recorded a healthy compound annual growth rate of approximately 12 - 15 per cent over the past two years, with hospitality, retail, public and residential sectors the key driving forces. By way of electric lighting illuminating new cities and replacing diesel generators in rural areas, as well as large-scale infrastructure developments in metropolitan areas, the country's lighting industry is projected to register even stronger growth patterns in the next five years. "The Indian lighting market is also on a clear transition from traditional lighting technologies to LEDs. Aggressively eroding prices and government incentives are indicative of the prolific growth in domestic demand for LEDs," said Mr Shyam Sujan, Secretary General, ELCOMA.
India has opened up to the international market by lowering duties, and is taking full advantage of skill development and a favourable currency situation to promote exports. Against this backdrop, Light India 2014 will bring together domestic and international policy makers, manufacturers, engineers, suppliers, architects, interior decorators and professionals from the lighting industry actively looking for business opportunities. Also, integrating a wider range of product categories, including Lighting, Lamps, Accessories, Luminaires, Decorative, Off-grid lighting, Power and LEDs, Light India 2014 will cover every lighting application and facilitate opening up new markets.
Commenting on the significance of an event like Light India, Mr Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India, stated, "The lighting sector is more vibrant than ever before, especially with the government's on-going city projects and massive rural electrification programmes. By way of Light India 2014, we will provide a ready platform to showcase lighting products from the country and around the globe in a mission to meet current demands and to further support exports."
