Lexisnexis Organizes Free Seminar For Indian Civil Services (IAS) Aspirants

LexisNexis® invited two past successful winners Mr. Salil Bijur (Assistant Commissioner of Income tax, Delhi) and Ms. Mahima Vashisht (Asst. Director, Press Information Bureau) who shared their individual experiences and views about Civil Services as a career option and the success strategy for the preparing for the exam. The much anticipated and hugely successful seminar was held in Batra Cinema, Mukherjee Nagar, New Delhi. Large Number of students and aspirants from various colleges/institutes participated in the seminar to gain practical insights and valuable guidance from the experts and winners.
According to various estimates, about 7.5 to 9 Lakh students aspire for a career in the prestigious Indian Civil Services where the actual selection percentage is only about 0.1% to 0.3 %. A large number of aspirants struggle with limited access to relevant information and right guidance about this most fierce competitive exam. It is for the first time that LexisNexis® has brought together the expert teachers, past winners and current aspirants under one roof to provide useful insights about the entire spectrum of What, Why and How to prepare for Civil Services. During the seminar, Ms. Shubhra Ranjan mentioned the importance of clarifying the concepts, reading good and contemporary books, making notes from newspaper articles and developing one's own framework for analysis. Ms. Ranjan suggested students to benefit from relevant TV programs on Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Success Guru Dr. Surender Kumar focused on rectifying the weaknesses of students in the relatively new but important paper on Ecology and Environment paper with relevant examples. The attendees were mesmerized by the simple approach suggested by success Guru Dr. Surendra Kumar. Dr. Kumar said that "the almighty has made everyone equally capable and it is upon us that how much we explore our capacities. The God has given all the greatest unique power, and one should just explore it and get the best out of it."
Prolific author of over a dozen Civil Services exam preparation books in Hindi, Dr. Sheelwant Singh shared insights into the examination pattern and trends, syllabi, and all the essential personality traits that are required to succeed in the Civil Services Examination, a session that was highly appreciated by the students.
Mr. Salil Bijur and Ms. Mahima Vashisht chose an interactive approach with the students suggesting aspirants to be clear about their reasons for pursuing Indian Civil Services. Mr. Bijur mentioned that "It is important for one to enjoy the preparation love what one is studying. Pursue what makes you happy to be successful in career and life. If someone wants to make a positive impact there are several ways to accomplish it with Civil Services being one of them". Mr. Bijur also explained the different requirements and strategies needed for succeeding in the Preliminary exam, Main exam and the final interview. Ms. Mahima Vashisht mentioned that there is a big difference between success in an exam and success in life. Ms. Vashisht shared examples from her own career post clearing IAS and how big challenges bring the best in her. She mentioned that "aspirants should ask themselves, why do they want to pursue Civil Services as it is like an instrument that can completely change the direction of one's life."
Students thoroughly enjoyed all the sessions and were very happy and satisfied at the end of the seminar as all their doubts and myths got clarified giving them a clear picture of how to set and achieve their goal of Civil Services.
