Leviton Opens New Data Centre Factory
The network cabling and connectivity manufacturer expands its custom-made fibre optic capability for data centres.
- (1888PressRelease) January 31, 2018 - Leviton opened its new Data Centre Factory at its Glenrothes, Scotland, facility. The Data Centre Factory provides data centre managers with bespoke network infrastructure products, including pre-terminated cabling and cassette solutions, with rapid delivery.
‘Field terminations can be the most time consuming, labour intensive process of cable installation in a data centre network,’ said Ian Wilkie, Managing Director of Brand-Rex, a Leviton company. ‘As data centre systems grow more complex, using pre-terminated infrastructure reduces downtime, labour costs, jobsite waste, and maintenance. When data centre managers can specify the exact length, cable type, breakout length, and fibre count for their network, they can cut installation time by as much as 80%.’
‘This investment extends our ability to support data centre customers across EMEA,’ said Bruno Filio, Vice President of Business Development. ‘Also, it combines our best US-made connectivity with Brand-Rex European-specific cables for a complete solution, delivered rapidly.’
The Data Centre Factory includes significant investment in staff, equipment, and IT systems, as part of Leviton’s broader efforts to meet the demanding requirements of data centre managers throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The Data Centre Factory incorporates the latest equipment and processes modelled on Leviton’s successful US-based factories. The factory runs on world-class IT systems that allow for rapid delivery of make-to-order (MTO) products.
The product set includes HDX, e2XHD, and HI-DEX cassettes, as well as fibre array cords, and fibre trunks with CPR-rated cables.
