Levine, Jacobs & Company, LLC, Member Advises on Deductible Payments
Michael Karu, CPA/CFF, quoted on NJ.com regarding taxes and deductible fees.
- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2019 - Michael H. Karu, CPA/CFF, Member, Levine, Jacobs & Company, LLC., was highlighted on NJ.com where he answers the question “are municipal sewer payments deductible on my tax return?”
Karu states it depends on whether payments to a municipal sewer authority are deductible on New Jersey or Federal Tax Returns. If you have a business or rental property then those payments are deductible, if not then they aren’t deductible.
“Note that it is a fee and not a tax, therefore eliminating it as personal deduction,” Karu said. “If you have a business or rental property that has to pay that fee, then it would be deductible in the normal course of business.”
