- (1888PressRelease) June 14, 2018 - Top vendors, Leonardo, KMW and General Dynamics UK will present on the latest technologies such as the Icarus Programme and platforms AJAX AFV and Fennek, at SMi’s Future Armoured Vehicles Survivability conference, taking place between the 13th and 15th November 2018.
My Guy Davies, Capability Manager at Leonardo will present "Icarus - Progress Towards Modular Integrated Protection System (MIPS) Standardisation". The presentation will cover an overview of the Icarus Research and Demonstration project being conducted by a Leonardo-led team for the UK MoD’s Defence Science & Technology Laboratory; developments in definitions of the MIPS Architecture, its standardisation and associated terminology; examples of simulated engagement scenarios; extracts from the MIPS System Model; and opportunities to be involved in the ongoing programme.
Mark Dean, Chief of Design Engineering, General Dynamics UK will present: "Reinforcing Survivability of the UK Armoured Infantry Brigade with the new AJAX AFV". He will cover a review of the requirements for the AJAX platform; utilising modular survivability technologies to counter current threats and allow for future adaptations; experiences and needs of the end user for armour design and integration; and latest testing outcomes, lessons learned, and improvement suggestions.
Mr. Axel Scheibel, Chief of Survivability Engineering, KMW will present “Enhancing the Fennek Command and Control Vehicle’s Survivability". The presentation will cover protective requirements for the Fennek platform; how to enhance platform survivability with enhanced blast protection, increased stealth, and all-round situational awareness; mitigating risks of detection and penetration with high terrain adaptability and long rage engine technology; and managing survivability and weight: future areas of development and foreseeable developments in the platform’s protection suite
