News, Review and More on Legendary Johnny Neel and His Smoking Hot Latest CD.
- (1888PressRelease) January 27, 2014 - It's a sure bet that the multitude of fans worldwide of legendary performer, (prolific singer, songwriter and keyboard player), Johnny Neel agree that every time Johnny Neel releases a new CD, they already KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that even before they get the cellophane off of it, that the CD in their hands is going to be nothing short of a funktastic, mindblowing, musical thrill ride from beginning to end.
Johnny Neel's multitude of fans know this because consistently THAT IS THE WAY IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN in the long history of his much celebrated career as a master musician. When it comes to Johnny's latest CD, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To", this CD is no exception to that rule; however this CD IS TRULY EXCEPTIONAL in every sense of the word!
For those who haven't heard it yet, how exceptional is this CD you ask? (And I'm so glad you did...)
It's EPIC! (Even by Johnny Neel standards!)
For starters, there is absolutely no false advertising in the title as Johnny Neel and band delves deep into every imaginable sub genre and style of the blues, ranging from funky, hard driving blues/rock style, reminiscent of Johnny Neel's days of performing with the Dickie Betts Band, The Gregg Allman Band and The Allman Brothers Band, to Delta style blues, deep down soulful blues, classic blues, blues/jazz fusion, moving, heartfelt blues, old school R&B style Southern boogie, (to burn), Gospel blues, and even 'feel good' blues, (if there wasn't such a thing before, there certainly is now), and far beyond. And I'm thinking Johnny Neel has even invented a few new sub genres of blues on this outstanding and absolutely stellar, must have CD as well. And of course, it is delivered up in nothing but THE tightest of musicianship by all performers that contributed to the making of this CD.
Johnny Neel's "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" is, not only in my own personal and professional opinion as a long time veteran music industry exec, and I'm sure in the opinion of Johnny Neel's fans everywhere, that this CD is indeed worthy of a Best Blues Album of the Year Award, (if not Album of the Year Award), at both the Grammys, American Music Awards, International Blues Music Awards, and at the Blues Music Awards! Johnny Neel's latest release, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" is THAT EXCEPTIONAL of a CD! What's more, there are absolutely no 'filler tracks', as every track off of this CD are radio worthy, true blues classics material delivered in Johnny Neel's own highly celebrated signature style, with the utmost performances by all contributing musicians on this unforgettable CD.
And while on the subject of awards, no doubt, Johnny Neel certainly deserves a Lifetime Achievement Award at ALL the above, (as well as the The American Country Music Awards, and others), for his many truly outstanding contributions over his vast career that spans an impressive four plus decades of delivering great music to the masses both nationally and worldwide.
Besides Johnny's success and contributions to the music and/or having been a member and/or touring with such great acts as The Allman Brothers Band, The Dickie Betts Band and Gov't Mule, Johnny has written songs for such greats as John Mayall, Delbert Mc Clinton, Montgomery Gentry, Keith Whitley, Travis Tritt, The Oak Ridge Boys, Restless Heart, Ann Peebles, (soul), Dorothy Moore, (pop, R&B and soul), and John Schneider. That is not to mention his work as a 'session A' studio musician, having performed on albums for/by Montgomery Gentry, Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, Todd Snyder, (Americana, country and folk), David Allan Coe, Jeff Coffin, (of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones), Robert Gordon, (rockabilly, alternative rock and punk rock), Chris LeDoux, Tiny Town, Suzy Bogguss, Joe Diffie, Colin Raye and Pirates of the Mississippi.
...That's not counting Johnny Neel's highly respected solo career, having released an impressive 12 (or more), CDs in a broad range of genres covering elements of rock, Southern rock, progressive rock, rockabilly, funk, jam, jazz, soul, Gospel, Southern boogie, R&B, Americana, classical and of course, 'every kinda' blues'. So needless to say, it's unquestionably indisputable that one would be hard pressed to find any master musician that has contributed as much to so many genres of music in their career in the music industry as Johnny Neel certainly has. And I'm sure all the aforementioned great acts above will certainly agree that some Lifetime Achievement Awards are definitely in order and long overdue for music industry legend Johnny Neel. ...While we are at it, Johnny certainly deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in ALL the above mentioned genres as well.
...And on the subject of giving credit where credit is due, Johnny Neel has left no stone unturned when it came to selecting the best performers for his "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To" CD.

I always find it interesting to ask legendary artists who their influences musically are; while speaking with Johnny Neel, I asked Johnny who his musical influences were. Johnny Neel's influences include: Leon Russell, Ray Charles, Oscar Peterson, Gregg Allman, (even before Johnny was performing with him), Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Humble Pie, Cactus, Rod Stewart & Faces, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Aretha Franklin are amongst his favorites; (as Johnny Neel loves classic soul), and is heavily into rock, jazz, soul and blues. (No surprises there.)
We at Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions wish to convey to the legendary Johnny Neel a big bravo, kudos and congrats on yet another funktastic, mindblowing, musical thrill ride with his latest CD, "Every Kinda Blues ...But What You're Used To", but most of all we would like to say THANK YOU to Johnny Neel, for the many years and the immense contribution of great music that master musician, singer and songwriter Johnny Neel has provided for his fans the world over.
