Legal IQ's Patent Survey Report
Legal IQ has just published the results of an Industry-wide Patent Industry Survey, conducted recently among 4,000 patent experts.
- (1888PressRelease) June 23, 2011 - The results showed that almost 35.3% of respondents considered Asia as the most important geographic region for their patent strategies come 2012. This figure was identical to the proportion of patent professionals choosing Europe as their key target for applications. Meanwhile, 23.5% of patentees named the US and 5.9% indicated South America.
With regard to reasons for filing the patents, the key concern for patentees was preventing others from copying an innovative product or service, followed by the need to prevent patent infringement from themselves and trailing. Improving product/company image and boosting revenues from licensing activity proved to be of a little importance.
The survey was created as a part of the pre-conference research for Global Patent Congress, taking place 20-21 September, 2011 in Copenhagen. The results helped to shape the agenda and final speaker line-up which features Coca-Cola, L'Oreal, Nokia, Micorsoft and Philips. Coca-Cola will lead the keynote session: International Intellectual Property Transactions - Gaining Worldwide Competitive Advantage and Advancing Global Momentum through Strategic Collaboration, Partnerships and Open Innovation while Microsoft will discuss The Role of IP in Promoting Economic Growth Through Innovation.
