New version of linear cutting optimization add-in for Excel supports using leftovers before actual stocks. This option reduces a total material waste for users who perform cutting jobs on a regular basis.
(1888PressRelease) October 20, 2015 - Metal fabrications, woodworking shops and construction companies cut linear material, like beams, pipes and bars on a regular basis. Even when using optimization solutions like 1DCutX, there will still be some leftovers (waste) produced during the cutting.
After several months of developing and testing, Optimalon Software has released version 7.0 of its optimization add-in 1DCutX for Microsoft Excel to support utilization of such waste. Although the material utilization of the current project may be less effective, the total waste from several projects will be significant reduced by effectively re-cycling leftovers from one project to the next one.
The users of 1DCutX can now specify the cells in their worksheets that provide waste stock information, for the calculation engine to use first before using the standard material. This option is accessible on the second page called "Waste Stocks" and can be turned on/off by the check box on that page.
Verison 7.0 of 1DCutX also includes a new calculation option to generate the list of waste stocks from the current project. It creates a separate worksheet "1D_waste_stock" that includes info, length and quantities of the stock leftovers. The user can copy data from this worksheet and use it as input information for the next project.
With the initial investments of $97, users of 1DCutX reported monthly savings in materials alone ranging from $200 to $1500. The software pays for itself in less than a month.
