Lee Negin Takes His Neo-Psychedelic Music Global
Lee Negin Is Taking His Electronic 'Hungry Ghosts' Music To Print, Online, And Broadcast Media.
- (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2010 - Lee Negin's "Hungry Ghosts" electronica album is now on its way to key journalists around the globe, but the composer/producer/performer is not relaxing. Instead, he is moving forward in a multitude of media.
With music videos on YouTube, songs on MySpace, and tracks for sale on iTunes (and many other online stores), he is racking up stories and interviews in the media, has airplay on many internet radio stations, and is top ten on several global music charts.
Negin has two full-length CDs of new material slated for release in 2011. February will bring "Hungry Ghosts" (Passing Phase Records), a 13-track album of music that can put people into a trance, get them frenzied on the dance floor, thrill them with the beauty of ethereal melodies, and/or make them laugh to sardonic lyrics.
In a recent preview of the album track "The Dance" on the Sheena Metal Experience program on LATalkRadio, Ms. Metal said "Sometimes people who have had near-death experiences say that they are taken to a place where their entire life flashes before their eyes, and in 'The Dance,' that's what I felt. I feel like I'm lying down, maybe I've been abducted by aliens, and everything I've ever thought about or felt is flashing before my eyes."
Coming later in 2011 will be a full-length album of ambient music that's all about bliss, stargazing, meditation, tuning in and trancing out. Negin describes the work as an "experimental, ambient, electronica, psychedelic, dreamscape sound sculpture." This album will be called "Wu Wei."
Look for his "Featured Artist" write-up on SonicTribe and for two eye-popping new videos coming from teamfresh of HD-Fractals in London. Negin is also beginning a political-social-humorous commentary video series in Seoul, Korea. (Born in Cleveland, Negin now resides in Seoul, where he teaches at Hanyang University.)
As an indie artist, Negin is burning up the Internet. His MySpace page has 46,000+ friends. His YouTube channel has 23,000+ channel views. And with his blending of electro and acoustic sonics, many people are clamoring to join the slightly nefarious and shadowy organization known as The League of Interplanetary Neo-Psychedelic Artists.
In Lee's music you will hear synthesizers, guitars, choirs, samples, and male/female vocals that are brand new -- but you will also hear references that pay homage to James Brown, Bootsy Collins, Brian Eno, The Cars, Kraftwerk, Jimi Hendrix, and even Frank Zappa.
"Hungry Ghosts" is coming in February 2011 on Passing Phase Records, available on iTunes, CD Baby, etc. Journalists and media are invited to request an advance copy.
