Lecture on Planning a Small Business & Source of Information by RE/MAX MGM
A Knowledge Sharing lecture on planning a small business and source of information by Ahmedabad Center of RE/MAX for Entrepreneur Development was conducted at LD Engineering College in Ahmedabad and was part of a Faculty Development Programme for Engineering and Science faculty.
- (1888PressRelease) January 08, 2014 - An Ahmedabad-based Center of Entrepreneur Development conducted a training session for the professors of Engineering and other Science stream colleges. Among the faculties who spoke at the training session was Manan Choksi, Regional Owner of RE/MAX MGM, a prominent technopreneur.
The training session was funded by Center for Entrepreneur Development to enable professors to effectively share ideas with their students. Most students of engineering and science streams opt for jobs right after completion of their respective courses. Typically they do not pause to think and grab any job that comes their way and pays well. The trend of frequent job switching is also rampant among new beginners nowadays. This trend is affecting the Indian economy while the full potential of the individuals are not being utilized.
Right from the beginning of their course, professors can guide them better by encouraging them to think like entrepreneurs. In later life, this will help them to discern between just doing a job and making the right choice to make use of their entrepreneurship capabilities. They will be able to make full use of their capabilities and resources when the time comes for them to join a profession.
Manan Choksi was among the faculty of trainers who spoke to the professors at length. An eminent entrepreneur himself, his background of owning and managing six ventures in diverse fields, ranging from real estate, education and tax services, makes him the right person to motivate the professors. He has made a difference where it has mattered with his hard work, grit and determination while using a definite 'say no to complacency' attitude. "Don't tell them or show them; simply guide them to think differently from day one," was his advice to the professors. His session was though provoking with several out of the box ideas, which is his forte.
He shared his views and experience on how to start a venture with due allegiance to legal, taxation and accounting constraints. He stressed on the importance of making a suitable business plan before embarking on a venture and gave guidance about how to go about it. He illustrated his session with examples from international business practices with encouraging cases where entrepreneurs have changed the world economy. He also shared his personal experiences about obstacles he had faced in life while handling his many businesses and how he had tackled them with fortitude and presence of mind.
The training session by CED was conducted at LD Engineering College in Ahmedabad and was part of a Faculty Development Programme for Engineering and Science faculty.
