Lavasa wins the 'Most Promising New Destination Award'
Lavasa, (Dist: Pune), September 23, 2012: Magic of the monsoon seems to be working wonders for Lavasa, the Hill City that is increasingly becoming popular among tourists. Over 1.5 lakh tourists soaked in the beauty of the rain, pristine green landscape and the blissful weather at Lavasa during July and August this year.

With growing popularity the accolades can't be far behind. Lavasa won the 'Most Promising New Destination Award' and followed it up with the 'Best Print & Promotional Material' award at the Travel & Tourism Fair held in Mumbai (September 7 to 9) and Pune (September 14 to 16) respectively.
76000 people visited Lavasa in July and the tourist number touched a new high in August with over 95000 visitors - the highest ever!
Lavasa, independent India's first planned hill city is approximately a 3 hour drive from Mumbai and an hour's drive from Pune. The city 1/5th the size of Greater Mumbai is being developed as a future city where residents and tourists can Live, Work, Learn and Play in harmony with nature. Lavasa when complete will host an estimated permanent population of 3 lakh residents and cater to a tourist inflow envisaged at 20 lakh per annum.
Mugaon the second town at Lavasa is currently under development. Once completed, Mugaon will host corporate and educational campuses, Apollo Medi City - Medical research centre, sports academies and plans for facilities like golf academy and driving range, basketball facility, tennis courts and a Space Themed Park designed under the aegis of USSRC (NASA).
