Abstract
As the world grapples with various public health protection orders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, reports of widespread price gouging among different states have added a significant level of burden to both the public and the government sectors.
To address the problem, a flurry of strict legislative investigations and enforcement actions for price gouging have been proposed and some significant cases are now starting to work their way through courts. Thus, businesses and their counsel must keep themselves abreast of all the crucial factors on how to implement price increase to avoid running afoul with the governing price gouging laws and policies in this time of uncertainty.
In a CLE Webcast, economist Laurien Gilbert (Cornerstone Research) and competition economics expert Joshua Sherman (Charles River Associates) will provide an in-depth discussion of the emerging trends, developments, and critical issues regarding price gouging amid the COVID-19 crisis. Speakers will also offer practical tips and strategies to overcome risks and pitfalls.
Some of the major topics that will be covered in this course are:
• Legal Overview of Price Gouging Laws
