The event, attended by key government representatives, business leaders, and trade consulates, underscored the growing importance of strategic partnerships in this dynamic region.
The launch was graced by the presence of Ms. Luba Grigorovitch, MP, who officially unveiled AAIBO. In her address, Ms. Grigorovitch highlighted the critical need for stronger business and cultural ties between Australia and the rapidly growing economies of Asia and India. “Connecting with Asia and India is not just about economic opportunity; it’s about building enduring relationships that benefit our communities and economies. This platform will facilitate that connection,” she emphasized.
Ravi Ragupathy, the Founder Secretary and CEO of AAIBO, provided insights into the vision and objectives of the organization. He emphasized the importance of promoting Australian-made products across Asia, thereby expanding market opportunities and fostering mutual growth. He also announced the upcoming “Vibrant Victoria Expo 2025,” an initiative that aims to showcase Victoria’s innovation, culture, and business potential to the Asian market. He proposed focusing on Australian-made products by creating a dedicated Australia-Made government ministry both at the state and federal levels to address challenges like high labor and input costs. He highlighted that AAIBO will support these initiatives through expert market entry strategies and will develop case studies of Australian made products like Australian Botanical Soap and Sai Shree Dairy along with their market access to Asia.
Focus on Business Literacy, Entrepreneurship and Regional Dialogue
Prof Kamala Kanta Dash, Director of AusInd Bridge Foundation’s India Office, presented a compelling argument for enhancing “Asian Business Literacy” in Australia and “Australian Business Literacy” in Asia. He pointed out the crucial role of such understanding in promoting effective business communication and collaboration. Professor Dash also called for regional business dialogues that prioritize small and medium enterprises (SMEs), recognizing their significant contribution to economic growth.
Mr. Anthony Cursio from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia spoke about the pivotal role of banking systems in supporting businesses, especially the Australian made products highlighting how financial institutions can facilitate smoother business transactions and investments within the Australasian region.
Venkat Raghavan, an entrepreneur who founded Sai Shree Food in Australia shared his journey of business in Australia and how it gives him immense satisfaction to cater to the need of the multicultural communities of Victoria. Emily Coltraine, a communications expert, discussed the transformative impact of technology on business interactions. She underscored the role of innovative communication technologies in creating seamless connections across borders, thus boosting business collaborations and partnerships in Australia and beyond.
The event received strong support from several Asian consulates in Melbourne including that of Malysia, India, Nepal and Japan, who shared encouraging messages with AAIBO. Business leaders from diverse countries including India, Malaysia, Thailand, Dubai, Vietnam, and Cambodia also expressed their keen interest in engaging with AAIBO in extending support to the regional outreach, recognizing its potential as a platform for fostering international business relationships.
