LAEDC Provides Free Business Assistance to Avert Layoffs
Regional Managers Offer Layoff Aversion Services to Help Businesses Retain Employees and sustain business.
- (1888PressRelease) November 02, 2010 - Los Angeles - The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation's (LAEDC) Business Assistance Department has secured a number of Layoff Aversion grants from the Southeast Los Angeles County (SELACO) Workforce Investment Board, South Bay WIB, Southeast Area Social Services Funding Authority, Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network and most recently the City of L.A. WIB.
Through this funding, the LAEDC, in partnership with local communities, workforce investment partners, employers, and workers, will assist small and medium-sized businesses explore alternatives to layoffs through human resource solutions. The LAEDC's team of professionals offers confidential, free-of-charge information and assistance to large and small, domestic and international businesses in the manufacturing, distribution and service industries.
LAEDC's Business Assistance service includes, but is not limited to:
•Private, confidential in-person needs assessment and coordinated business retention and sustainability efforts through one of its partners, the Valley Economic Alliance;
•Job placement and training assistance through the City of L.A. WIB;
•Rapid response services for recently terminated employees;
•Lean manufacturing programs through the California Manufacturing Technology Consulting;
•Assistance in accessing public financing programs (local, state and federal) and Industrial Development Bonds through the Valley Economic Development Center.
