ASTM is an international organization that develops and publishes technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services. The standards are maintained and developed through the efforts of volunteers who participate in ASTM technical committees. Standards are arrived at through consensus and are used on a voluntary basis.
ASTM committee volunteers come from many interest groups, including manufacturers, consumers, government and academia. The mission of Committee E01 is to standardize analytical chemical processes that are significant to the industries it serves. The Committee and its subcommittees develop, evaluate and publish standard test methods, practices, guides and terminology for chemical and spectrometric analysis as they apply to sampling and testing of metals, ores, and related materials. They also sponsor proficiency test programs.
Dilks has been with Laboratory Testing Inc. for thirty years in positions of increasing responsibility. He started as a chemist in the Chemistry Lab before being promoted to supervisor. Seven years ago, he also took on responsibility for overseeing the Metallography Lab when he was promoted to Destructive Testing Manager - Chemistry and Metallography.
