L. Ron Hubbard's "The Slickers" Brings New York to the Historic Ybor Square

Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2011 - Ron Hubbard's "The Slickers" was performed before a packed house at Ybor Square this past weekend, where guests were "transported" to New York for the multi-cast dramatic theatrical presentation. Originally written in 1936, "The Slickers" is classic pulp fiction at its finest - a small-town sheriff from Arizona fighting crime - and the New York Police Department - against the backdrop of the Big Apple.

It was the historic Ybor Square where the production was delivered in the theater at the Church of Scientology Tampa. Performing artist and song writer Jessy Leros opened the show. "The Slickers" featured a cast of five including L.D. Sledge, Dylan Cefail, Saiyo Shaw and Colin Taufer and was narrated by Joanie Sigal. Movie quality sound effects and music made it reminiscent of a 1930's radio show. After the show guests were provided complimentary desserts and refreshments.

The "Golden Age Theater of Tampa Bay" produced the show. The troupe has been performing L. Ron Hubbard fiction stories throughout the Tampa Bay area, including the Boys and Girls of the Suncoast.

"These stories are hugely entertaining and are just pure fun," said Sigal, who manages the troop. "I am very excited to be introducing people to this form of entertainment through Mr. Hubbard's fiction works - he's the master."

Stories from the Golden Age contains 153 stories all written by Hubbard during the 1930s and 1940s-in genres ranging from Mystery to Thriller, Science Fiction and Fantasy to Adventure and Western, using his own and fifteen pen names-widely considered America's Golden Age of Fiction. The print version of each work includes the pulp fiction artwork that originally accompanied the story in magazine publication.
