Kurdistan Prime Minister H.E. Nechirvan Barzani Announces The Importance Of Regional Cooperation At The Kurdistan-iraq Oil & Gas Conference
The Kurdistan-Iraq Oil & Gas Conference was officially opened by the Kurdistan Prime Minister H.E. Nechirvan Barzani on Monday 2nd December.
- (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2013 - Erbil, Kurdistan Region - The 3rd Kurdistan-Iraq Oil & Gas Conference was officially opened by the Kurdistan Prime Minister H.E. Nechirvan Barzani on Monday 2nd December. In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted Kurdistan's contribution to the global energy market and reiterated Kurdistan's commitment to the Iraqi constitution in the Region's dealings with Turkey.
His Excellency said, "I have insisted at all times of these negotiations on the transparency and accountability of the export process and revenues from the Kurdistan Region. And here I would like to announce that we will invite officials from the federal government and independent third parties to observe all stages of the process."
Deputy Prime Minister H. E. Dr Rowsch N Shaways emphasised the importance of the oil and gas industry for economic recovery in the region; whilst the Turkish Energy Minister, Taner Yildiz expressed a wish to start a tri-lateral cooperation scheme to maximise the oil and gas potential.
H.E. Dr Ashti Hawrami, Minister of Natural Resources, KRG, also spoke at the Kurdistan-Iraq Oil & Gas Conference; Dr Hawrami highlighted the successes that have been achieved over the past year whilst outlining what next year's targets would be for the industry.
Day one of the Conference closed with the Award Gala Dinner sponsored by Chevron. Attended by 450 Ministers and delegates, including Kurdistan Prime Minister H.E. Nechirvan Barzani, the evening was a celebration of individuals and companies who have excelled in their contribution to the Kurdistan oil and gas industry. Awards on the night went to: Talisman for Environmental Initiative of the Year; Oryx Petroleum for CSR Initiative of the Year; NPS Energy for Service Company of the Year; KAR Group for Fast Track Engineering Project of the Year; DNO for Largest Well Producer of the Year; and George A. Yacu, Advisor , Ministry of Natural Resources , Ministry of Natural Resources ,KRG, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Day 2 of the Conference continues today with closing remarks from Michael Howard, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources, H.E. Dr Rowsch N Shaways; and H.E. Imad Ahmed Sayfour, Deputy Prime Minister, KRG. Marathon Oil Corporation are hosting Closing Networking Drinks Reception this evening. A site visit to the Khormala Zone sponsored and run by KAR Group takes place on Wednesday concluding this year's conference.
