Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) January 17, 2012 - Award-winning KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce that three KTGY principals, Manny Gonzalez, AIA, LEED AP, Michael Ohara, AIA, and Rohit Anand, AIA, NCARB, have been invited to speak at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders' Show (IBS) held February 8-11, 2012, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. KTGY principals are frequent guest speakers and panelists at the most prestigious national and regional industry events.
On Wednesday, February 8, Gonzalez will participate as the moderator in the session, "Economic & Market Forecast for the 50+ Housing Industry," from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Attendees will learn what is happening in the housing industry today, with a closer look at how the 50+ segment is currently performing vs. other market sectors. The panel of experts will discuss the economic factors that directly impact the 50+ market to get a forecast for both the short- and long-term. The panel, which includes Adam Ducker, managing director - director of urban development practice group with RCLCO in Washington, D.C., and Paul Emrath, vice president of survey and housing policy research for NAHB, will also examine emerging economic and societal trends and how they will impact the growth of 50+ communities.
Also on Wednesday, Gonzalez will participate in the session, "Apartment Designs for the New Frontier," from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Gonzalez will share some of KTGY's bold new designs that are making news and winning awards for their innovation and sustainability. Attendees will get a strategic look at the future of unit and community design for apartments and see a variety of new unit plans that accommodate how people will be living in the future, as well as the bedroom, kitchen and universal design features that consumers will demand (and the tired, out-of-date features they will shun). Learn how tomorrow's communities are being designed to be more urban and edgy, and which locations will be the most attractive for development. On Thursday, February 9, Gonzalez will be available for Architectural Plan Reviews from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Gonzalez is the senior partner in KTGY's Santa Monica office and president of KTGY Group, Colorado. He is responsible for the design, land planning, and production of developments throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado as well as active adult and affordable multi-family communities nationwide. In his more than 25 years of practice in residential development, Gonzalez has won numerous awards for his outstanding designs and has served as Chair of the AIA Housing Committee, on the Board of Directors for the BIA, and on national committees for the NAHB Multifamily Leadership Board, The 50+ Symposium and University of Housing. He has written and contributed to scores of articles on residential design and is a frequent presenter at industry conferences. Gonzalez has presented his ideas on design trends in the homebuilding industry at the IBS for more than a decade.
KTGY Principal Michael Ohara will participate in the session, "2012 Trends: 90 Design Ideas in 90 Minutes," on Wednesday, February 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In this fast-paced program, industry-leading architects and builders will share easy-to-implement design ideas that can be used to update elevations, renew floorplans, animate streetscapes and develop dynamic neighborhoods. Using a wide array of drawings and photos, Ohara and other participants will showcase the latest design trends, products and strategies to capture a buyer's attention and make the sale. Attendees will learn about the key market trends that are emerging in interior, exterior and outdoor living design; hear tricks of the trade for achieving hot new looks on a tight budget; and discover where to find both the materials and manufacturers to make it all happen. Attendees will also receive proven tips on how to reach prospective home buyers by understanding their wants and needs.
On Friday, February 10, Ohara will speak on the panel, "Value Engineering in Multifamily Construction: Enhancing the Bottom Line for Your New Apartment or Condo Community," from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The panel of experts will reveal secrets to value engineering the design and construction of multifamily communities, and discuss how to take a project from concept to completion, design smarter, control costs, refine processes and meet the budget. Ohara will talk about emerging trends in apartment and condo design that will enhance builder's business performance and improve profitability. Attendees will also learn how to successfully incorporate green and sustainable features into their apartment and condo projects more cost-effectively.

KTGY Principal Rohit Anand will participate in the session, "Revisioning Amenity Spaces in Multifamily Communities to Maximize Profitability," on Friday, February 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Anand will share how he is creating innovative indoor and outdoor gathering spaces to facilitate social interaction, as well as how multifamily communities are integrating the latest technology to provide full connectivity, especially for the Gen Yers and Xers. Attendees will also discover which common area amenities are must-haves and which are falling by the wayside, and explore the evolution of such areas as theaters, business and fitness centers and outdoor and indoor gathering spaces. Rohit will discuss how he utilizes the spaces between and on top of the buildings to create a variety of "outdoor rooms" to facilitate social interaction; how he designs with flexibility in mind to maximize space; and share proven strategies for adding new amenities within an existing building to increase the value and curb appeal of the community for today's demanding renter.
Rohit Anand is the managing principal for KTGY's Tysons Corner, Va. office. Anand brings more than 25 years of professional achievement in leading the design of multifamily residential developments primarily in the mid-Atlantic and major East Coast markets. Anand's experience includes the design of nearly 20,000 market rate residential units ranging from for-rent and for-sale multifamily units to single-family attached and detached homes. A recognized industry authority and trend-setter, Anand is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and has contributed to scores of industry articles and publications. He has served as an awards judge and has been a featured guest on television broadcasts.
