Krav Maga of Orange County Offers Women's Self Defense Seminar

Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) March 11, 2014 - Krav Maga of Orange County conducted a women's self-defense seminar on January 18, 2014. About 30 women attended this seminar taught by Yuri Boiarsky, Monika Kronowit, Michael Kinnersley and Taylor Moody. Attendees represented women from all walks of life including high school and college students, working professionals, stay-at-home moms and retirees.

According to the World Health Organization (www.who.int) Factsheet on Violence Against Women, recent global prevalence figures indicate that 35% of women worldwide have experienced either intimate partner violence or non-partner violence in their lifetime. On average, 30% of women who have been in a relationship report that they have experienced some form of physical or other violence by their partner. Globally, as many as 38% of murders of women are committed by an intimate partner. The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (www.cpedv.org) states that Women are over 4 times more likely to be beaten, 6 times more likely to be slammed against something, and 9 times more likely to be hurt by choking or suffocating.

To address these alarming numbers, the seminar taught verbal defense, situational awareness, basic combative techniques such as kicks and punches, and how to defend against various attacks. Self-defense for women is one of KMOC's top priorities.

KMOC has been providing quality training in Southern California since 1992 and has taught thousands of individuals throughout Orange County. The KMOC instructor staff has over 130 years of combined teaching experience in Krav Maga and our program is the only one with six Black Belt Level Instructors in the County.
