Kosair Charities Donates $6+ Million To Kosair Children's Hospital

  • Lousiville, KY-IN (1888PressRelease) November 28, 2012 - As part of its ongoing commitment to children and families in need Kosair Charities will present Kosair Children's Hospital with a $6,026,212.00 check at a special ceremony this morning in the hospital's main lobby.

    The donation is part of a $130 million pledge Kosair Charities has made to ensure that Kentuckiana's children benefit from the medical services and treatments Kosair Children's Hospital provides.

    "Quality of life begins with quality health care and it is our mission to ensure that every child in need throughout the region receives that care," states Jerry Ward, Kosair Charities Chairman of the Board. "This donation reaffirms our ongoing commitment to these children and their families that Kosair Children's Hospital continues to give them the important medical attention that they deserve."

    Kosair Charities is the largest private benefactor of Kosair Children's Hospital and since 1981 has provided more than $112.2 million to support a multitude of initiatives and programs undertaken by the hospital. These include nearly $95 million to fund health care for children whose families are in financial hardship; $3 million toward the purchase of a second MRI for the hospital in 2007; $9 million to support construction of Kosair Children's Medical Center-Brownsboro in 2009; and $1 million to support equipment purchases in 2012, funding monitors for the emergency department, imaging equipment and surgical equipment.
