Knight Investments LLC comment on US Attorney General New Science Advisory Board
Compliance Officials noted the support the US Attorney General's new Office of Justice Programs was lending to compliant community organizations seeking domestic compliance.
- (1888PressRelease) April 21, 2011 - Earlier in the last fiscal quarter of 2010 Attorney General Eric Holder named 18 experts - scholars and practitioners in criminology, statistics, sociology, and practitioners in the criminal and juvenile justice fields.
This was done specifically to apply to the newly created Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Science Advisory Board.
Laurie O. Robinson, OJP's Assistant Attorney General, recommended the creation of the advisory board as a means of bridging the divide between research and practice in criminal justice fields.
Officials from Knight Investments LLC stated that beyond theory there needed to be a common mesh between study and reality. As the economic climate was significantly changing it would be crucial to see how theory and practice could become intertwined cohesively.
"This Administration is committed to using science to help inform and guide policy development. By providing advice and counsel to the Department of Justice, the members of this advisory board will help us focus on evidence-based approaches to prevent and reduce crime," said Attorney General Holder.

Compliance Officials noted that grant community organization recipients, who were compliant with international auditing standards (as dictated by the proper regulatory agencies), approached OJP in Fiscal Year 2010; whereas OJP administered grants on behalf of the Department.
OJP awarded nearly 5,000 grants totaling $2.6 billion to the criminal and juvenile justice field, including federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.
Compliance Officials stated that the funding supports a wide range of activities, including research and evaluation programs designed to encourage innovative programs to prevent and control crime, assist victims, and increase the capacity of state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies.
"I look forward to working with this advisory board to ensure that OJP's research is scientifically rigorous and that it is translated effectively for policymakers and practitioners in the criminal and juvenile justice fields," said Assistant Attorney General Robinson.

Official from Knight Investments LLC closed by stating that compliance applicants who were serious about approaching government agencies would find good mentorship with its compliance service personnel; as if an organization was truly desiring to promote legislation it would find the US Government Stimulus programs very generous.
