  • (1888PressRelease) April 04, 2011 - Torrance, CA - Only one percent of U.S. companies export overseas with most exporting to either Mexico or Canada, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. However, majority of the world's consumers live outside the U.S. border.

To increase exports and jobs, the White House launched the National Export Initiative (NEI) in 2010 with the goals of doubling exports by 2015 and supporting millions of jobs. And, through the "New Markets, New Jobs" Tour, the government is reaching out to small and medium sized business across the country to encourage them to export.

KNAECO International, Inc., a woman and minority-owned business, is taking the exporting plunge outside of the United States. It is attending the Access to Opportunity in Southeast Asia conference sponsored by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) to conduct meet and greet opportunities with Southeast Asian businesses.

The conference will be held from May 3-5, 2011 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. The conference sessions will focus on access to investment and trade finance, private equity, infrastructure, tourism and entrepreneurship. Particular emphasis will be placed on the renewable energy and clean technology sectors.
In addition to meeting Southeast Asian businesses, KNAECO is also interested in representing green companies in Southeast Asia. KNAECO has the capacity to assist American businesses in their global marketing objectives. It can provide onsite visibility for their products and services and through its associates, facilitate B2B collaborative ventures between US and Southeast Asian companies.

Kausar Ahmad, KNAECO's founder and president, understands the importance of culture and politics and is open to providing guidance to small business who have green products and services as well as to those who are interested in exploring overseas markets.

"It is all about overcoming the fear factor of not knowing how to navigate through the language, business culture and regulations of the country and we can assist in reducing the uncertainties," Ms. Ahmad said.

Financing may also prove to be a huge challenge for potential exporters. However, in addition to the financing and investment opportunities provided by OPIC, there are trade offices across the country that exist to assist the small business owner.
The Long Beach International Trade Office (LBITO) is one of a number of such local entities in Southern California. Based in Long Beach, its mission is to help existing business grow and prosper through international trade. Among the broad range of services, LBITO provides a comprehensive package of free and low-cost services to help Long Beach area companies grow and prosper through international trade.

KNAECO seeks to partner with OPIC and LBITO to further its marketing efforts for overseas clients. Attending OPIC's conference in Southeast Asia and sponsoring LBITO's events will not only increase KNAECO's visibility but also facilitate the trading efforts of potential clients.

"A small company like ours needs this kind of leverage, structure and support. It has to be a team effort for a win-win situation for everyone," Ms. Ahmad commented.

Information on OPIC and its conference in Indonesia may be found on its web site www.opic.gov. The Long Beach International Trade office's web site is www.lbito.org.

The mission of KNAECO International is to identify and develop sound economic development projects which benefit diverse communities and improve international understanding and collaboration through ethical and socially responsible business practices.
