Kirkland Physician Dr. Aysel Sanderson Elected President of the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons
One of the Seattle area's top plastic surgeons, Aysel Sanderson, M.D., has been named to head up the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons.
- Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA (1888PressRelease) March 25, 2011 - Kirkland physician Dr. Aysel Sanderson, one of the Seattle area's top Plastic Surgeons, has been elected president of the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons.
The NWSPS serves a 350-member physician group from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, Alaska, and Hawaii, and is a subset of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
In her new role, Dr. Sanderson will help provide vision and leadership to the organization as it carries out its mission of advancing quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery.

"The field of plastic surgery changes so rapidly that it's critical for physicians to receive the very latest training and have a place where they can come together to discuss advanced surgical procedures. The NWSPS plays such an important role in helping surgeons stay on top of what's going on in the world of medicine."
Dr. Sanderson will oversee the NWSPS during its 50th anniversary year, planning the organization's next annual conference, scheduled for February 2012 at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort at Ko Olina in Hawaii.
"Aysel is an outstanding choice to lead our organization," said Dr. Sepehr Egrari, a Bellevue plastic surgeon and member of NWSPS. "She is a highly accomplished surgeon with an impeccable reputation for her skills, knowledge, integrity, and professionalism. I know she will do a terrific job as our new president."
Because of her expertise in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery, Dr. Sanderson has addressed a number of professional organizations and has appeared regularly on Seattle area television news programs discussing such topics as breast surgery and breast reconstruction, advances in plastic surgery, facial surgery and abdominoplasty and liposuction.
A 20-year veteran of the field of plastic surgery, Dr. Sanderson received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her medical degree from the University of Texas. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, where she also served as chief resident. Additonally, she completed her fellowship in plastic surgery at the Medical College of Virginia.
Over the years, Dr. Sanderson has held numerous leadership positions within the NWSPS and other medical professional organizations, including serving as president of the Washington Society of Plastic Surgeons. She also has sat on the Seattle University Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board and is a member of the Cornell University Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network.
Dr. Sanderson has received a number of business and professional awards, including being a three-time winner of the Golden Hands Award from the Washington Society of Plastic Surgeons for Excellence in Cosmetic Surgery. Her peers in a Seattle Magazine poll also named her one of the top physicians in the Seattle area. And she was recently chosen to be included in "The Leading Physicians of The World" publication.
Additionally, Dr. Sanderson has won the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business Award for Excellence in Customer Service, the Achievement in Science Award from the Assembly of Turkish American Association, and the Paul Harris Fellowship, awarded by Rotary International Foundation.
