Kirchhoff-Consigli Wins ENR New York Best Projects Award
Renovation and Restoration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum Garners Prestigious Construction Industry Award for Kirchhoff-Consigli.
- Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, NY (1888PressRelease) September 04, 2014 - Kirchhoff-Consigli Construction Management (KCCM) has been selected to receive a 2014 "Best Projects" award for projects in the region in recognition of the renovation and restoration of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York. The prestigious Engineering News-Record (ENR) New York Best Projects Awards honors excellence in project management, innovation, safety, quality and teamwork.
The two-phase, $23.6 million renovation, completed in 2013, was the first since the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum Library opened in 1941. The complete gut renovation raised typical construction standards to the next level, requiring an exceptional level of precision to safeguard precious pieces of American history. The project included renovation of the main and upper library levels, as well as lower levels of the library where a majority of the archival material and exhibits were housed. In addition to heavy site work and restoration of the historic exterior, KCCM added a new glass entryway and vestibule and increased exhibition space to allow for the installation of a new permanent exhibit.
Along with architects for the project, EYP Architecture & Engineering, and the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, KCCM coordinated the renovation to accommodate approximately 300,000 visitors throughout the duration of the project.
An independent jury of design and construction industry leaders judged 59 ENR New York's Best Projects entries for top recognition in 19 categories.
