Desmond feels his story will be in inspiration not only to the cancer community but to everyone. Desmond explained "Many different people have expressed interest in how someone that has parts of his brain removed, then blasted with high dosages of radiation still has the cognitive capabilities to complete something as complication as developing an iPhone apps. I'm still curious how I did it." Prior to cancer Desmond completed his B.A from Stony Brook University in Cinema and got his start at Suffolk County Community College T.V Radio and Film program.
