Khusru Asadullah, Vice President and Head of Global Biomarkers at Bayer Pharma AG, will give a keynote presentation on 'Open Innovation for Biomarkers' at GTC's 2nd Biomarker Europe Summit (Sept 5th-7th, 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland).
- (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2012 - Khusru Asadullah, Vice President and Head of Global Biomarkers at Bayer Pharma AG, will give a keynote presentation on 'Open Innovation for Biomarkers' at GTC's 2nd Biomarker Europe Summit taking place on September 5th - 7th, 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Bayer Healthcare has set up a novel open innovation approach called Grants4Targets. Ideas on novel drug targets and biomarkers can easily be submitted on www.grants4targets.com. After a review process, grants are provided to perform focused experiments to further validate the proposed targets/biomarkers. In addition to financial support specific know-how on target validation and drug discovery is provided. Experienced scientists are nominated as project partners and, depending on the project, tools or specific models are provided. More than 600 applications have been received and 77 projects granted so far.
Prior to becoming Vice President and Head of Global Biomarker at Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, Khusru Asadullah headed Target Discovery and Inflammation and Immunology research at Bayer Schering Pharma. He is a Professor of Medicine at the University Hospital Berlin and is a board certified Dermatologist and Immunologist. Over the past years he made several contributions in particular in translational medicine, cytokines, kinases and nuclear receptors.
GTC's 2nd Biomarker Europe Summit brings together leading experts across the industry and academia to discuss the latest research and developments in the biomarker field. The summit spans across three tracks focusing on different biomarker areas including oncology, inflammatory and neurological.
