Kevin Whitted Basketball Introduces New Coach Jasmine James
Former WNBA Player Jasmine James has accepted a coaching position at Kevin Whitted Basketball Services as part of their player development coaching staff.
- Memphis, TN-AR-MS (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2017 - Kevin Whitted Basketball is proud to announce the newest addition to their player development coaching staff former WNBA player Jasmine James! Jasmine was a four year starter at Bartlett High School (2005-2009) averaging between 17-24.8 ppg during her high school career. She was a three time Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Player of the year and a 2008/2009 AAA TSSAA Miss Basketball Finalist. James holds the Bartlett High School Leading Scorer title as well.
While attending the University of Georgia (2009-2013) she was a four year starter for Hall of Fame Head Coach, Andy Landers. James was an All SEC team member her Freshman, Sophomore and Senior years. She was the 32nd player in UGA Women’s Basketball history to score 1,000 points. Jasmine finished her career at UGA ranked in the history books as the 20th all-time in scoring, 8th in steals and 9th in assists.
As a professional player James was the WNBA 31st draft pick to the Seattle Storm (2013) and signed to the Phoenix Mercury for the 2013-2014 season. She has also played four years overseas including Brazil, Israel, Germany and Luxembourg.

Currently, Jasmine is the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Bartlett High School in addition to her role at KWBS.

Former Dallas Mavericks NBA player, University of Tennessee starter and European league player Whitted stopped playing basketball in 1999 and switched gears and coached two successful teams: the Atlanta Vision ABA and the Wilmington Sea Dawgs PBL. As an assistant coach Whitted has coached NBA D-League teams the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and the Springfield Armor. Whitted was also named Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College and was named Inaugural Head Coach of the NBA D-League Westchester Knicks. Outside of coaching Whitted is a Nike Skills trainer.
