In the video Dr. Dattani explains: In 2000 I obtained my dental degree at the Royal London School of Medicine and dentistry. After I qualified I pretty much knew that that wasn't it for me I wanted to do some more, something special in dentistry. I was always more surgically minded, I wanted to perform surgery, make a difference in the way people smiled and their confidence, so I went first of all and did my general practitioner qualification, which is known as the MFGTP, at the Royal College of Surgeons. Once I finished that I then went on to do the diploma in implant dentistry again at the Royal College of Surgeons. I obtained that as well as the advanced certificate in bone grafting and the General Dental Council, who are our governing body, have actually said that this course they regard as the gold standard so I knew when I enrolled I was doing one of the best courses out there.

At the same time I knew there was much more to give in dentistry and I was really interested in the psychology of people smiling and realised that there's a bit more to people's personalities because those who are nervous of dentistry, those who don't have the best of teeth, find it difficult to communicate and in general practice there will be a lot of patients saying that "I don't get promotions, I don't get where I want to in my work because I've always got my hand over my mouth." So then I decided, well where can I learn about cosmetic dentistry? And the Dawson Institute in America actually moved and did a Dawson Institute in the UK so it's very American based training and I decided to do the full three courses with the Dawson Institute and learned how I can actually change people's smile and make them much more confident in a predictable manner that will last them a very long time.
