- Jersey City, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2012 - Acoustic/electric indie rockers, Karen Davis and Joe Pla will be tearing it up at the Songwriter's Showcase next Tuesday. They'll bring their unique blend of rock, blues and punk-flavored pop to the neighborhood watering-hole.
The long-time Jersey City residents have performed up and down the east coast, and count Lucky Seven as one of their favorite places to play. "It's small enough to be intimate, but big enough to get loud in", Joe recently said.
This perfectly suits the married, inter-racial duo's combo of sweet acoustic picking, propulsive guitar rhythms, soaring vocals and drilling solos.
They'll be debuting new songs from their up-coming CD, Evil All the Time. You can find demo versions of these (The Last Time, Desperate, Evil All the Time) at their reverbnation page http://www.reverbnation.com/karendavis. Karen and Joe will all be tearing through the angsty bits from their last CD, Blue Sky Dream - also available at reverbnation.
If you just can't wait until the 29th to check them, Karen and Joe will be hitting up the local open mics at the Lamppost (382 2nd St Jersey City, NJ) this Wednesday, and at Boca Grande( 564 Washington Blvd. Jersey City, NJ) the following Wednesday. They might also put in an afternoon appearance at D's Soulful Café ( 918 Willow Ave. Hoboken, NJ) on Thursday May 17 at 1 PM. They will definitely be playing at the Somerville Music Fest Saturday May 19, 11 AM-1 PM, smack in the middle of Main Street. "We are totally stoked about performing on Pete Townshend's birthday! We'll have to make this a tradition." , Karen said.
As much fun as these other shows are going to be, Karen and Joe are especially eager to play at Lucky Sevens. "It's an all original gig, and we don't always get a chance to build a whole show around our stuff.', Karen explained . "We usually play at least some covers - Stones, Zeppelin, Pretenders - this is the first time in a while that it's all just us. We can't wait."
