Chapter raised more than $1 million to research the cause of and cure for juvenile (type 1) diabetes and its complications at its 8th annual Hope Gala (http://tekadvizor.com/JDRFNCGALA/), held on April 30 at the North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh. This represents more than a 50 percent increase over last year which was record-breaking for the Triangle/Eastern N.C. Chapter.

The 2011 Living & Giving Award was awarded to Diane K. Adams, Executive Vice President, Culture and Talent at Allscripts, and her family for their leadership, generosity and dedication to improve the health and well-being of everyone affected by type 1 diabetes. Adams, who joined JDRF after her daughter, Danielle, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2000, serves on the JDRF International Board of Directors. With the support of family and friends, Danielle's walk team has raised more than $500,000 over the years, consistently placing as one of the top fundraising teams in the country.
