Justa Center Hires Two New Staff Members
Welcoming new housing coordinator and operations director.
- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) June 14, 2016 - Arizona nonprofit Justa Center, a day resource center for the Valley's homeless seniors 55 year and older, recently hired Franklin Evans to fill the position of operations director and Nora Carrillo as the organization's new housing coordinator.
Evans is a retired Methodist minister, and prior to his new position he served as the Executive Director of Unity of Phoenix and served as General Manager of University Operations for Western Governors University. Carrillo spent most of her career in healthcare program management and brings extensive experience in health, nonprofit, corporate programs and housing.
"Both Franklin and Nora bring an excellent pool of experience to the table," Justa Center Executive Director Barbara Lewkowitz said. "We believe that every senior deserves a place to call home and Franklin and Nora's capacity for compassion and innovative problem solving will be paramount towards our success in combatting elder homelessness."
Justa Center was the first of its kind in America to provide comprehensive services to seniors who are homeless, including many veterans. Conservative estimates conclude that one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping on the streets of Phoenix tonight has put on a uniform and served his country.
Operating in downtown Phoenix for ten years, Justa Center provides support and services to the senior homeless population that includes procuring safe housing, nutrition assistance, basic physical healthcare, extended care, mental health counseling, personal development, job assessment and training/placement assistance. They move one or more seniors daily into housing.
