Juntos Collective Embarks on 2011 Annual Outreach Trip to Guatemala
Performances, Teaching and Community Outreach in Three Cities, March 12th-20th, 2011.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 17, 2011 - JUNTOS Collective embarked this week on its annual outreach trip to Guatemala. Seven student dancers from The Ailey School/Fordham University BFA in Dance Program are traveling with JUNTOS staff through Guatemala for a week of public dance performances of all-original choreography, teaching and community events for local children, the elderly and the general public.
Upon arrival, participants are spending their first days performing for the public in Antigua. Moving on to Quetzaltentango, the second largest city in Guatemala, participants teach dance workshops at local middle schools, followed by evening performances at several orphanages and retirement homes. The trip will conclude in Guatemala with performances in Totonicopan and in Quatzaltentango at the prominent Teatro Municipal. Children taught earlier in the week will open the program with pieces they created during the workshops.
JUNTOS Collective has partnered with Atrezzo Marketing of Quatzealtango who will finalize performances times, program itinerary and is advertising JUNTOS events in all three cities.
