Hashmi Herbal founder Dr. Hashmi laid the foundation of healthcare for profit in the country. Building on the idea, today we are manufactures of world-class herbal medicine in India.
- (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2011 - Dr Hashmi, the 48-year-old CEO of the Hashmi Herbal Group and architect of modern unani healthcare in India, has a bit of Barnard in him. Like the other medical genius who got their education in states and subsequently returned to the country, Dr. Hashmi also left a flourishing practice in states and opted to return to his roots. He adds to that I am restless on account of my father's words: 'Of what use is your expertise if your country does not benefit from it'," he recollects.
The idea of a corporate a unani and herbal medicine manufacture in the country-the Hashmi Herbal Group. The name Hashmi, god of healing, was suggested by his father. The manufacturing and herbal medicine consulting pharmacy has got medical talent.
Dr Hashmi recalls the thought prevailing in his mind during the early 1970s, "The dream of creating world-class herbal medicine facilities in India spurred me to set up Hashmi Herbal in India.
Probe him further on his formative years and Dr. Hashmi gets candid. "I was a wastrel when I was young. Having grown up with my brothers, I was also very naughty and even in college; I kept company with the naughty gang. I was also actively involved in cultural activities," Dr. Hahsmi laughs. But he still topped in the university. He recalls yet another nostalgic moment: "When I cleared my medical entrance examination, my father could not comprehend my achievement and I had to explain it to him."
Hashmi Herbal is now the India third-largest herbal medicine manufacture provider in the private sector. Its medicines have served over 3 million patients from different countries. When asked about the spirit behind the creation of Hashmi Herbal, Dr Hashmi gets philosophical: "I come from a joint family and I have tried to incorporate that spirit in the Hashmi Herbal Group, where everyone works together like a family."
Bringing about a paradigm shift, Dr. Hashmi initiatives have forced global herbal healthcare companies also to look at India as an emerging and attractive opportunity. Dr. Hashmi wants to integrate healthcare into the digital world. "I want to create virtual Hashmi Herbal Centre, through which healthcare is available anytime, anywhere," he says. "My emphasis is on tele medicine, the facility to connect any location in the country to a specialized healthcare centre through satellite link-ups.
Further Dr Hashmi CEO Hashmi Herbal said that, "We are planning to set up centers of excellence in areas of herbal treatment to get a dominant share in these areas. With strong believe in your medicine, we are aiming for a five-fold increase in revenues in the next three years".
