- Harrisburg-Lebanon-Carlisle, PA (1888PressRelease) March 02, 2012 - JPL used innovative technology to help this year's PA Tech Awards create buzz and more than double award nominations. The annual awards program, organized by TechQuest PA, recognizes individuals and businesses that advance technology in Pennsylvania.
To increase participation, JPL rebranded the awards program with a new logo and web design to create greater appeal to potential award nominees. In addition to housing information about the event, the website also allows people to submit nominations. These nominations are immediately published to the website for easy sharing via email, Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels. Users are encouraged to use the hashtag #TQawards when sharing nominations, generating more than 200 event-related tweets so far.
Some nominees, such as Voith Turbo, with offices in Germany, are promoting their profiles worldwide to gain global recognition for their Pennsylvania innovation. Voith Turbo in York, Pa created an Android tablet-based mobile training application that simulates driving a bus with Voith's hybrid transmission system.
New this year, the People's Choice category lets the public vote for their favorite nominee. This has engaged thousands of people as students have voted for their teachers, employees for their companies, and the community for their favorite innovation. To date, people have cast more than 35,000 votes. Website visitors are able to vote once between now and the deadline March 27, 2012. The top 10 vote-getters will be recognized at the awards gala with the award going to the nominee with the most votes.
