Jovenville Sweeps the ADDYs The Creative Agency Takes Five Design Awards
At the 23rd Annual OC ADDY Awards, the advertising industry continued to confirm Jovenville's place as a leading creative agency for consumer companies. The agencies' market-driven designs were honored with one Gold and four Bronze OC ADDYs, the American Advertising Federation's awards recognizing excellence in advertising.
- (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - In winning Gold in the Collateral Materials category, Jovenville was responsible for the creative direction, copywriting, photography and printing of the John Wayne Airport annual report. Made up of individual cards that could be put together and taken apart, like blocks or Tinker Toys, the completely new format was a hit.
"We put an upbeat, playful spin on the John Wayne Airport improvement program by using 'building and construction' as the concept for the report," said Jovenville's Ringmaster Joven Orozco. "Since the report was interactive and hands on, it encouraged recipients to spend more time with it. We also used this idea to demonstrate that John Wayne Airport is a key component in the overall Orange County economy: since John Wayne Airport was enjoying a period of relative prosperity, the County, too, could build on this success."
Bronze ADDYs were awarded to Jovenville in the categories of Public Service Collateral, Audio Visual Sales Presentation (Sales Promotion), Advertising Industry Self-Promotion and Logo Design.
In the Public Service Collateral division, Jovenville was awarded Bronze for the annual report completed for Orange County Waste and Recycling (OCW&R). The goal was to create a piece that would clearly demonstrate OCW&R's core values with a professional and appealing design that didn't cross into a corporate look. Using a "layering" concept which simulates layered transparencies, Jovenville was able to utilize original photography and nuanced writing to focus on each component of the operation individually, as well as demonstrate how all the pieces work together. The resulting collateral revealed a company that is not only committed to its own ethical business practices and organizational transparency, but also tied to the health and prosperity of the Orange County.
Launched in October 2010 in Irvine, California, Nuii is an online deal platform that features exclusive special offers from merchants in Southern California to local consumers. Jovenville's audio visual sales presentation for the company not only told Nuii's story in a fun and informative way, but also resulted in the second of Jovenville's four Bronze ADDY s.
The third Bronze ADDY, in the field of Advertising Industry Self-Promotion, was awarded to Jovenville for their creation of the Creative Block, a marketing and self promotional piece designed and distributed to clients and creatives during the holiday season. A simple wooden block was inserted into a bag that had the tagline, "A gift of great potential and your imagination is the key that unlocks it." Users were given instructions and diagrams explaining the several different uses and applications Jovenville has for the Creative Block. A call to action asks the user to submit a photograph to Jovenville along with the fun and creative ways they've used the Creative Block.
The final Bronze ADDY was awarded for Jovenville's own new logo which was developed as part of the transformation of the company from Joven Orozco Design to Jovenville. The logo more accurately portrays the comprehensive array of strategic design and marketing services Jovenville provides to clients.
Each year, more than 50,000 entries from across the nation are submitted into local ADDY competitions from companies across a number of fields. These include ad agencies, broadcast production houses, printing companies, interactive shops and many more. There are more than 100 advertising-related categories in this first of a three-step process within the ad industry's largest and most highly competitive contest. In the next step in the competition, Jovenville will go on to compete against other ADDY award recipients in one of 14 district competitions with the hope of reaching the third tier-the national ADDY Awards.
