  • (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2011 - Columbus, OH - Jody Scheiman, wife of Team Bexley co-captain Jeff Scheiman led the fundraising efforts for Jeff and set the example for Team Bexley which was the largest non-corporate peloton in this year's Pelotonia, a grassroots 2 day cycling event to benefit the Ohio State University's James Cancer center, one of the top comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.

"I want to do what I do best, and that is to solicit funds for a cause I believe in" said Jody Scheiman. Ever since her father was cured of what was thought to be terminal leukemia 5 years ago by the miracle drug Gleevec and the talented doctors at OSU James cancer center, Jody Scheiman has been a tireless advocate of OSU, The James and cancer research. "When the Pelotonia event came along and offered my husband a chance to do what he loves, cycle, and me, fund-raise...I was overjoyed!" echoed Jody Scheiman.

Pelotonia was established with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research. Pelotonia is a three-day experience that includes a weekend of cycling, entertainment and volunteerism. Thanks to its generous sponsors, Pelotonia is able to direct 100 percent of every dollar raised to cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute is one of only 40 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States designated by the National Cancer Institute and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the top 20 cancer hospitals in the nation.

Team Bexley has raised over $200,000, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Jody Scheiman, making Team Bexley the top non-corporate peloton in this year's event. So far, for this year's event fundraising efforts have led to almost 9 million dollars being raised for Pelotonia. 57 days remain with fundraising closing in October. "I'll keep soliciting until the deadline" said Jody Scheiman. That's what Jody Scheiman is so good at, that's what she does...and Team Bexley is thankful for Jody Scheiman's leadership and dedication in supporting this event.
