Joan McCall's Ordination Celebrated In A Gala Event At Creative Arts Center For Spiritual Living In Los Angeles
The ordination of Joan McCall was held on November 12 in Los Angeles followed by a Champagne reception including over a hundred guest and twenty visiting ministers and practitioners from various Centers for Spiritual Living. There were VIP speakers and performing artists.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) November 17, 2010 - Joan McCall's ordination as a minister of the Science of Mind and spiritual director of the Creative Arts Center for Spiritual Living was celebrated on Friday, November 12 in an event that included over a hundred guests, a program of speakers, songs and an ordination ceremony. It was followed by a Champagne reception in the social hall at the Center on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles. David Sheldon, the master of ceremonies, introduced Dr. Kenn Gordon, president of International Centers for Spiritual Living, and twenty ministers and practitioners from various locations.
The program began with a spiritual treatment by practitioner Judy Kneisley, followed by a song by the gifted actor-singer John Downey accompanied by the music director of Creative Arts Center for Spiritual Living, Kahlil Sabbagh.
Rev. Keith Cox, director of the worldwide youth program for International Centers for Spiritual Living, who trained as a minister along with Joan McCall, gave a talk acknowledging her special gifts as a minister and teacher of the Science of Mind. Rev. James Mellon, founding pastor of the NoHo Arts Center for New Thought in North Hollywood, California, who trained as a practitioner as well as a minister along with Joan, gave a talk in appreciation of her accomplishments.
Performing the ordination was Dr. Sue Rubin, former pastor of the Center for Spiritual Living in Westlake Village, California. Dr. Sue has served on the integration committee for International Centers for Spiritual Living and United Centers for Spiritual Living, helping to create a greater, unified organization. She presently travels as a guest speaker, teaches the Science of Mind and gives seminars.
Joan then talked about her spiritual journey including her Kentucky roots, her practice of Christian Science, why she loves Centers for Spiritual Living and her mission to teach how our lives work.
Professional singer and recording artist Laurie Marchese performed a song written by her and Maggie Gautier based on a Billy Joel song. It was followed by a spiritual treatment by staff minister, Valerie Reeves.
