Jewellery Store Announces Launch of Elite Collection
Moscow retailer has been chosen to feature rare 'plique-a-jour' collection of art objects.
- (1888PressRelease) February 29, 2012 - A Moscow jewellery retailer has been chosen to launch one of the world's most exclusive collections of hand-crafted art objects.
The Diamonds jewellery store in Moscow has been selected by Bulushoff to feature their latest prestigious collection of 'plique-a-jour' jewellery.
'Plique-a-jour' (French for 'letting in daylight') is an ancient method of applying enamel to an intricate lattice of gold or silver to create a translucent effect; similar to a miniature stained glass window.
The expertise required to create artworks with this technique is so rare that only six recognised masters exist in the world - four of whom work for Bulushoff.
It is the rarity of these objects, together with their radiant beauty, which has made them the ultimate in prestige items; owned by royalty, world leaders and the economic elite.
The use of 'plique-a-jour' can be traced back to the 13th century but the difficulties involved in mastering the method meant it became something of a lost art, until a Russian revival in the 19th century.
A spokesman for Diamonds said: "We are incredibly honoured to have been chosen as retail partners by Bulushoff and to help keep this ancient craft alive".
"This is a collection of rare and beautiful items which can regarded as, not only artworks, but as cultural treasures".
Bulushoff is one of the most prestigious luxury trademarks in Russia, creating fine art objects for home and business.
The latest collection of 'plique-a-jour' jewellery is available to view at the Diamonds retail establishment, Moscow, Tverskay st, 4
