Jer's Chocolates' Holiday Gift Box proceeds to provide 15 meals for each box sold to San Diegans in need
For the second year in a row, Jer's Chocolates will partner with Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank to carry out its 2011 effort.
- (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2011 - This holiday season, locally based Jer's Chocolates, the leading innovator and distributor of gourmet peanut butter-chocolate candies, will donate $5 of every Holiday Gift Box sold to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.
Proceeds from the sale of every half-pound Holiday Gift Box will enable the Food Bank to provide 15 meals to San Diegans in need over the holiday season. Each box is packed with eleven pieces of milk, dark and white chocolate-covered peanut butter truffles.
"We are very grateful to Jer's Chocolates for supporting the Food Bank, for the second holiday season in a row," said Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank CEO J. Scofield "Scody" Hage. "This is a great way for businesses to reward employees and thank customers, and of course it is a meaningful gift for a loved one. Each purchase not only supports our Food Bank, it also supports a local business."
The seasonal gift boxes are wrapped with a band indicating the "Food Bank donation" and can be purchased on Jer's Chocolates' website.
The Food Bank is encouraging its supporters to give the gift of chocolate this holiday season while helping feed hungry San Diegans.
"This fundraising program was such a great success in 2010, that our team decided to raise the bar and feed more mouths with the 2011 fundraiser," announced Jerry Swain, President and CEO of Jer's Chocolates. "We are donating $5 per box, providing 15 meals for San Diegans; three more meals per box than the previous year. The difference we can make with this contribution is impactful and we hope that this effort begins a yearly holiday tradition for Jer's Chocolates."
The Food Bank is feeding more people than ever before in its 34-year history, currently over 350,000 people every month. Food Bank officials blame the heightened levels of demand on county's sustained high unemployment rate and the weak economy.
With its already stretched food supply, the Food Bank will struggle to meet demand for food assistance over the holiday season, and officials are appealing to the community to support the Food Bank through this Jer's Chocolates' fundraiser.
