Jehovah Jireh Outreach Will Hold Event at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel to Benefit At-Risk Youth

Talent and Fashion Showcase will Raise Funds to Help Send Children in the Community to Summer Camp. End Quote

Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 25, 2012 - On June 2, the Jehovah Jireh Outreach Inc. (JJO), a community-based non-profit organization, will hold a talent and fashion showcase titled, "What About the Children?" All funds raised will go directly towards the organization's "At-Risk Youth Development Program," including summer camp. Tickets are $50 and include a sit-down dinner.

The event, scheduled for 12-5 p.m., is open to the public, all ages, and will feature singing, poetry, dancing and modeling. The organization will also be honoring some supporters from the community who have put in a lot of time and energy to help sustain the mission of the group.

Among those being honored is Tanya Sweet-Preston, administrator of Bishop Taylor Manor in East Orange, who donated space to operate programs such as senior events, community food distributions and a Christmas toy and coat drive. Joseph Kansky, store manager of Western Beef Supermarket in East Orange, is being honored for his help, in coordination with the supermarket, with food donations for the food distribution program, summer youth program, and other special events. Bobby A. McKellar of Dillon Landscaping in Newark is being honored for his sponsorship of JJO's community memorial garden, which honors the victims and survivors of the September 11 tragedy. Darrin Sharif, Councilman of the Central Ward in Newark, is being honored for his continuous support for JJO, including a donation of computers for the summer youth program and the Community Resource Center.

Tonya Greene, Founder and Director of Programs at Jehovah Jireh Outreach, stated, "Our supporters play an integral part of our organization's success. Without them, programs like this would not be possible." This event will help fund field trips for inner-city youth and expose them to positive environments. Greene said, "This will give the youth a sense of hope. They will learn that their environment doesn't have to dictate their future. They'll also learn self-respect and life skills that will enhance their lives socially and economically."

Local author and JJO board member, Laurie Perrone, added, "Our culture tells young people that their futures waver in the balance of an all but defunct economy. JJO takes a stand against such negativity. This is important because our young people will be our future leaders, workers, teachers, mentors and counselors for the next generation."
