JEE Main 2013 Overview from Entrance Corner
The JEE Main 2013 will go through its first conduction from next year onwards i.e. 2013. This exam has been introduced after the scrapping of AIEEE and will govern the admissions of students in NITs, IIITs and other state and centrally funded institutions.
- (1888PressRelease) October 19, 2012 - A new provision has been introduced to allow the states to conduct the examination in regional languages also if the state submits this request to the center. Earlier, the candidates had to give a number of exams for getting admission in engineering colleges, but now after the introduction of one - nation - one - test norm, the candidates need not sit for various state level exams.
JEE Main 2013 will be conducted in offline as well as online modes. The online exam will be conducted on multiple days over a range of weeks from the 8/04/2013 to 30/04/2013. The final merit of the exam will be calculated by giving 40% weightage to Board Marks and 60% to that of entrance exam score.
The admission process to IITs has also been modified as now only the top 1.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2013 will be allowed to give JEE Advanced 2013 which will be the entrance level exam for IITs. These candidates must also lie in top 20 percentile window of their respective boards, as per the eligibility requirement of IIT admission.
