- Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2015 - Candace Miller refers to Jazz BeCuzz as an artistic movement that breaks the regular misconceptions of Jazz.
Recently at a concert in the Dallas arts district Mahogany instructed the audience to make a train whistle noise while she performed Duke Ellington's "Take The A-Train". She then explained that jazz is not conservative but it is energetic and fun. There was a slight pause then the room was filled with train whistle sounds. The kind of jazz that she and her band creates really gets the feet moving but also is grounded in improvisation. I met with Mahogany at her new Art Center in North Dallas were I participated in actually painting a few walls and helped to hang some light fixtures as I got to know more about what Jazz BeCuzz really is. I came to find out that it is in some ways an artistic movement, but more than anything else it is a wedge that fills a void. After listening to her speak of many of the ways her new organization will employ people and help them with various day to day challenges it gave me greater insight. This new art center looks and feels like Jazz but offers much more for everyone that wants to preserve, present and promote their artistic freedom. Her website bears this statement.
"Jazz is often associated with a style of music that involves energy, improvisation, and a unique skill set. The Jazz BeCuzz Arts Group would like to introduce jazz as an approach to all art. We offer you the opportunity to observe, learn, create and participate…something fun and focused for the WHOLE family. If you want training to become the best you can be or simply are interested in taking on a new hobby, Jazz BeCuzz is prepared to take you where you want to go! Call now information on classes, workshop, and programming!"
So in my opinion you can expect high quality music lessons, master classes, lectures, acoustic performances and visual art displays within the coming weeks and months. Original and local art are the main items that will be presented on performance nights. Jazz BeCuzz has a website that highlights it's upcoming events. Each performance will be a unique concept that allows listeners to enjoy true art. These events along with the educational components are what the first phase of Jazz BeCuzz is about.
