James Burnett is a senior associate at Alston & Bird and a member of the firm’s International Trade & Regulatory Team based in Washington, D.C. James advises clients on a variety of issues associated with global trade, including export controls, economic sanctions, and related enforcement matters. He has represented U.S. and foreign clients in matters concerning the investigation and disclosure of export violations to various regulatory agencies, and has counseled clients regarding compliance with and licensing under the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and sanctions regimes administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). James received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A., cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
