Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10k Raises Rs 36.52 Lakhs For Charity
Centre for Social Service is the highest pledge raising NGO with Rs 2,50,000.
Bank of America and Deloitte raised the highest amount among teams in the Corporate Challenge, collecting Rs 4,00,000 each.
iCON Runner Kapil Takkalapally raise Rs 2,00,000, while iDream Runners Sai Jagannath Kaza and Hannah Suresh raised Rs 1,00,000 each.
- (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2012 - The people of Hyderabad responded in champion fashion to the charity drive associated with the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K, 2012, making an impressive beginning by raising Rs 36.52 lakh in clearly tracked figures towards charity.
Spearheaded by Event's official Charity Partner, United Way Hyderabad, the positive response to charity was a fitting tribute to 10th edition of the Hyderabad 10K Run, rechristened the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K and promoted by Procam International on November 25.
This was announced by Ramesh Kaza of United Way of Hyderabad at a special function held in the city on Saturday in the presence of Suresh Hari, Director Jamba Cloud, Uma Chigurupati, Chairperson Hyderabad 10K Foundation, Vivek B Singh, Jt. MD Procam International and representatives of the various partners to the event.
"We are very happy to have been the title sponsors of the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K in the inaugural year of it being promoted by Procam International. The most fulfilling aspect of our association is the 35 NGOs who have been able to raise funds for causes ranging from education, disability, shelter and care for animals.... The method that Procam has birthed and United Way of Hyderabad has delivered in a short span of 12 days can be summed up in the old Chinese proverb- "Do not give fish, teach people how to fish"! During our continued association as the title sponsor we do look forward to the charity aspect blossoming and helping more NGO's," said Suresh Hari.
The figure of Rs 36.52 lakh in clearly tracked figures is clear indication that the citizens of Hyderabad wear their hearts in the right place. Having set a positive trend this year, the charity drive associated with the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K has the potential to soon rank among the largest charity generating events in the country.
"Running is not only a sport or a way of improving your health, fitness and self-confidence but also a way to help others. Participating in a race to help a charity is a great way to give back to the community in a fun, fulfilling manner.

The Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K on November 25 saw more than 8,500 people participate in the run. A field of top class male and female athletes participated in the events for the Elite men and women.
The men's race saw a thrilling finish between Ethiopian Mosinet Geremew and Kenyan Nicholas Kipkemboi, which ended in a sprint finish in the Ethiopian's favour. Mosinet clocked 27.36 and Kipkemboi 27.37, the second and third fastest times in the world over the 10km distance in 2012.
27 corporate entities fielded 29 teams, raising a total of Rs 32,10,000. Bank of America and Deloitte raised Rs 4 lakh each, the highest amounts in the Corporate Challenge. Bank of America raise funds in support of 'Centre for Social Service' and a multiple of NGOs, while Deloitte supported 'Banjara Development Society', 'Magic Bus', 'St Gregorios Balagram',' Priyadarshini Seva Mandali', 'Abhaya Foundation' and 'Mahila Sanatkar by Yugantar'.
iCon Runner Kapil Takkalapally raised Rs 2,00,000 in support of Desire Society, while iDream Runners Sai Jagannath Kaza and Hannah Suresh raised Rs 1,00,000 each in support of multiple NGOs and People for Animals respectively.
Sunder Nagesh emerged the highest individual pledge raiser with Rs 31,612 in support of 'Nirmaan Organisation', followed by Satish Nandigam, who raised Rs 10,000 in support of 'Freedom Foundation'.
Center for Social Service was the highest pledge-raising NGO with Rs 2.5 lakh, followed by Hyderabad Council for Human Welfare with Rs 2.05 lakh and Desire Society with Rs 1.82 lakh.
Distance running events around the world provide the most vibrant and positive platform for charity and the Jamba Cloud Hyderabad 10K has joined an illustrious bunch of global events that raise huge amounts of money for charity.
As a city too, Hyderabad has joined an illustrious group of cities around the world who can boast of owning an international event. Besides propagating the ideals of helping develop a sports culture, health, fitness, and a clean life, the event also promotes positive social attributes.
